2008 test · Question 44 of 100
What is the capital of your state?
Depends on where you live
The answer is different for each state, for D.C., and for each U.S. territory. Look up the answer for the place where you live.
USCIS note: Answers will vary. [District of Columbia residents should answer that D.C. is not a state and does not have a capital. Residents of U.S. territories should name the capital of the territory.]
Our explanation
A state capital is the city where the state government is based. D.C. residents should say D.C. is not a state and does not have a capital. People in a U.S. territory should name the territory’s capital.
Remember it
The capital is often not the biggest city. New York’s capital is Albany.
