Why do some states have more Representatives than other states?
Answers from the USCIS list
Give one of these answers. Words in light (parentheses) are optional.
- optional: (because of) the state’s population
- optional: (because) they have more people
- optional: (because) some states have more people
Our explanation
Population means the number of people who live in a place. States with more people get more members in the House of Representatives. For example, California has many more representatives than Wyoming.
Remember it
More people, more Representatives. Every state still gets two senators.
