2008 test · Question 16 of 100
Who makes federal laws?
Answers from the USCIS list
Give one of these answers. Words in light (parentheses) are optional.
- Congress
- Senate and House optional: (of Representatives)
- optional: (U.S. or national) legislature
Our explanation
“Legislative” means law-making. Congress is the legislative branch, so it makes federal laws. Congress has two parts: the Senate and the House of Representatives. A federal law is a rule everyone in the country must follow.
Remember it
Legislature = law-makers = Congress (the Senate and the House).
